Election Deadlines
- The deadline for MAR Director candidate filing is Friday, July 4th, 2008
(77 days from the Delegate Body meeting)
- Voting for Directors will open online on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008
(30 days from the Delegate Body meeting)
- Voting will conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, September 18th, 2008
(the night before the Delegate Body meeting)
MAR District District Director Criteria
- Three years as a MAR member, and currently a member
- Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan
- No license law violations in the past three years that are indicative of moral turpitude
- Principal place of residence in the district elected to represent
- Demonstrated leadership by one or more of the following:
- Prior or current director or officer of a local association
- Prior or current president of a MAR affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level
- Demonstration of participation in the Michigan Association of REALTORS®
(i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums)

Make a difference at MAR by participating in One REALTOR®. One Vote., MAR's annual director elections. Districts are divided along US Congressional lines and members vote in the district where they live. Voting is exclusively online and runs from August 20 to September 18, 2008.
MAR will provide a link on the association's homepage, as well as on this page that will take a voter to a secure voting Web site. Once at this site, the member will be asked for the following:
Members will then be directed to their specific district page to cast a vote. Each REALTOR® member may cast no more than one vote for a candidate for MAR District Director. A vote cast by a REALTOR® member for a MAR District Director shall be cast for a director representing the MAR District in which that REALTOR® member resides. REALTOR® members that reside outside of Michigan shall be able to cast a vote for MAR District Director for the MAR District in which the Local Association office building is located.
This will be our association's fifth One REALTOR®. One Vote. district director election. Plurity wins. Winners will be announced during the September delegate body meeting. All members will be notified of the results.

MAR will match your address to your Congressional district so that you may vote for your district candidate. If you don't know your U.S. Representative in the Federal House, please check with your local association or use the following link.

Campaign lists or electronic files from the MAR database of members in your district will be available from MAR at no cost by contacting Julie Rowell at 800.454.7842 x 521. You may also contact Julie if you wish to send an email to to your constituents. You have the opportunity to send one email prior to voting going live and two additional emails once voting is live. Please allow three days for production time.

NAR Director criteria:
- Three years as a MAR member, and currently a member
- Licensed as a broker, salesperson or appraiser in Michigan

- Prior or current director or officer of a local association or the state association
- Prior or current president of a NAR affiliated institute and/or society or council at the state level
- Demonstration of participation in the National Association of REALTORS® (i.e., attendance at business meetings, committee meetings, or forums).
NAR Directors are voted on by the Delegate Body at the Delegate Body meeting at the State Convention. This year’s convention is being held at the September 17-19, Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan, with the Delegate Body meeting on September 19th. NAR Directors will serve a three year term beginning 2009. The number of open NAR Director positions will be determined by July 31st, 2008 and noticed to the membership immediately thereafter. The nomination process for NAR Director begins August 1st, 2008 and concludes on August 13th, 2008.
